Cytisus battandieri pruning?

any advice on any special pruning requirements/timing would be greatly appreciated.

It does not want much in the way of pruning. My bible says that badly placed or crossing shoots should be cut out in late winter or early spring while still dormant. However it also adds a warning not to cut back into old wood
