Three years ago I bought an Abutilon megapotamicum and it has flowered every year since but has not grown or filled out. It survived the bad weather last winter although I do cover it up with an old net curtain. It is against a garage wall. An ideas how I can get it to grow?

They are as a rule quite small I believe. How large is yours?

Well done on getting your abutilon through the last two winters. These plants should reach about six feet high and across. They like full sun and a well-drained soil - is yours in these ideal conditions? If it is not putting on much growth, it could either be starved or dry at the root. For this year, keep it watered during dry spells and see if it responds. Next year, I would suggest a general purpose feed in early spring and hopefully this will encourage it to put on more growth

Thank you for your advice, I will try to water it more this year even though we have not had rain in the SE for weeks. This morning I thought we were in for some heavy rain and it lasted about 5 minutes then 5 minutes later the ground was dry and the strong winds do not help. I will give it a feed tonight.

Thanks again.

How do I say thanks?
