diseased rhus cotinus

My rhus cotinus which is 20 years old has a disease affecting some of the leaves. When one cuts a branch off, the core of the branch is a bright brown colour. Can I do anything to save this plant

Verticillium wilt. If confirmed, this is a certain killer and your plant should be removed and burnt. Ensure there is no transfer of plant material with the rest of your garden and clean all tools in contact, it really is that bad.
