It will say on the package how long you have to wait before eating the fruit, but I would hesitate to spray anyway. You could try pyrethrum dust if its still available - that should be ok and it will have washed off by the time the fruit is ready for picking anyway. Don't worry about the leaves though - the bushes seem to recover after the onslaught!
