hollow tree

I have a silver birch which,at some time in the past, has lost a branch. The site of the wound has formed a large hollow which is getting deeper. Can I fill in this hollow, if so, what with. Cheers Mike.

Not being an expert at all, but searching for a problem solution myself - look for "Heart Rott & Butt rott fungi disease" --- I found lots of sites.
But I warn you the news are not favorable.
