I've unearthed half a dozen horseshoes and thought about hanging them 'for luck'.
I've always thought hanging them 'U' style was correct but a Yorkshire friend tells me that they believe that way 'stops' the luck dropping on the householder.

Any ideas...?
read reasons for hanging them facing 'up' and 'down'....

There are two schools of thought on hanging horseshoes.
If you hang them upside down - with the arch at the top, your luck will fall out.
And if you hang it the other way up - in a U shape, the witch will sit in it and steal your luck.
So you have a choice - I've hung them on their side to get "half-lucky"

If you've got a few, arrange them in a circle formation - that way you've got some of their sides, some facing up and some facing down... if you believe it'll make any difference anyway, lol!

Best to go back and look for the horse with six legs heh! heh! you'll make a fortune

I wondered on the legend around the placing of horseshoes. I'll hang my two now arch down and take a chance on Tony Blair returning as PM with his wife.

Thanks, I'm not at all superstitious but it seems a pity not to hang them up.

I'll try the circle and, 'touch wood', hope that will look the best....

We unearthed a horseshoe too several years ago and nailed it over the boilerhouse door 'upside down' to stop the Devil sitting in it! Haven't seen him around so I guess it works. ;o)

Maybe hang them about 5 degrees "down" from sideways, so the luck trickles out slowly on passersby?
