The most important things you will need, is
a) a rough plan of where you want what.
b) a spade and a fork for removing some of the grass to plant into.
c) a wheelbarrow is a must.
d) sticks and string to mark out any borders you may want to create.
e) a rake to level the soil if you're doing borders.
f) somewhere to stack the clods once removed.
You will need a either a strimmer or a mower, just to keep the paddock grass down until such time as you have it planted up.
That should be enough to be getting on with to make a start.
