I found this unique plant in the forest. Anyone know what is?

It's a Trillium, Jeanna. I don't know which one. I love them, but my OH doesn't. Their other name is "Wake Robin", though that name may only apply to the white species. It will be interesting to see what colour flower that bud will make when it opens. That will be your best chance to identify it.

Did you dig this up Jeanna? Wild flowers are protected in woodland over here.

Drc, I got it off my friend's land. :D Also, there is a group here that goes out into the woods to find all kinds of plants, though I'm not a part of this group.

Hi Jeanna I have just posted a photograph of a trillium I bought last year at the Scottish Rock Garden Club Show in Edinburgh. I have also posted a photograph of it growing in my shrubbery this year. It has settled in well in the shade of overhanging shrubs. Have a look and see if this is what you have. If so it is Trillium chloropetilum giganteum.
