Any advice would be a great help can i take a cutting from a camelia this month before it flowers,my friend is moving house the plant has been in the garden for 20 year and is very healthy. As the plant is being left in the garden afew of us would like a cutting.Gillian

You sure can! Just remove any flower buds on the cutting, and give it extra time to root, since it is going to be relatively older wood than one taken at the proper time.

Much easier in a greenhouse, due to the warmth and humidity, but then they will require hardening off before planting outdoors. You could just take extra cuttings to get around the higher mortality rate of those started outdoors, and avoid the finicky steps of hardening off.
