Spring Bulbs
Spring Bulbs
Asked on 7 Oct, 2008
I want to reuse this years potted spring bulbs. After they flowered I covered the pots in Chicken Manure and put them in a sheltered place. How do I prepare the bulbs for use again next spring?

I just leave mine alone - they seem to thrive on neglect. If the pots start to look too full I transplant the bulbs into the flowerbeds, just keeping some bulbs back to re-pot.

I think that if they have been in pots all this time, you'll just need to water them, as they may well have started to develop new roots already. I would normally have replaced the compost but I think you might be wise not to as you might damage the roots.
