Acers - are any more wind tolerant than others?
Are there any varieties that are more wind tolerant than others, I prefer the red shades to the green/yellows? It would have to live in a pot probably for quite some while as I could then move it in very hot spells. I live in an end of terrace so wind blows down the side of the house as well as across the back. I just love them but previously was beside the sea with just too much wind and salt?

Grow dwarf varieties in large pots, earthenware are best. Mulch the root area in the summer.

thanks very much for both replies. Will try dwarf ones and I have bought a water butt, so it will be rainwater that all plants get.

Sorry to say its the red ones which are most sensitive, but pot growing is a good way to keep them as long as you use rain water, or live in an area with lime free tap water.
