Slugs in compost for indoor plants

Asked on 22 Sep, 2008

I have re-potted 5-6 plants using Levington's Multipurpose compost. I discovered a curled up slug in the compost. I threw that away and sprinkled slug pellets on all the 6 pots. Will this prevent the slugs from damaging the plant or do I need to do something else? Also is it common for the bags to have slugs?

You may have given more than one slug a lift home.
The slug pellets should keep them at bay.
