Where to grow vegetables.
Where to grow vegetables.
Asked on 22 Sep, 2008
I have a small garden with limited space for growing vegetables.
I have access to a blocked off alleyway which gets very little light.
Could I grow any vegetables here? I was thinking that perhaps root vegetables may grow here.
The vegetables I am planning to grow are:
Sprouts, Potatoes, Onions, Carrots, Parsnips and Runner beans.
Many thanks

All plants need light. Runner beans will grow on an open fence. Sprouts and potatoes need room i.e. 2 feet apart in rows, carrots, onions and parsnips need full light.
In the alleyway you could grow mushrooms, or force rhubarb in a large container. Bring it out in the summer to grow on.
