grass yellowing
grass yellowing
Asked on 18 Sep, 2008
After applying a nitrogen rich fertilizer to my lawn about 4 weeks ago (during August), it is now starting to turn pale green and yellowish.
The same happened last year at around the same time.
Could you please advise me on this?
Yours Sincerely, Terry Grose

Combination of the wrong fertiliser at this time of the year with the very wet weather is my guess.

Although we apply Nitrogen between April and August, at this time of year the grass becomes drawn with less daylight and after another wet summer lawn disease is more apparent. A light scarifying may help and lift the cut collecting all lawn mowing.
Good luck.

i would just get dry chicken manure and sprinkle that over all your garden.your stuff is burning it.some old ways are best.you could also airate the lawn with some spike shoes for grainage

I`m no expert on lawns, but I read in this weeks Amateur gardener that you should ensure you use Autumn lawn feed at this time of year, and this is low in Nitrogen and higher in Phosphorus and Potassium. Maybe it is something to do with this?
