No. And you can plant straight outside now. Remember you'll probably need to dig them up and split them in a couple of years - the ones in my gardens are trying to take over the universe, and actually, doing a pretty good job...

I adore these Alex, plant them towards the back of a border as they grow quite tall, they are beautiful.

This variety also grows pretty tall and the strappy foliage can get heavy, Alex,at least mine do.I usually have to stake mine,or push the foliage behind a Pyracantha branch, growing up the wall.Back of the border plants, but lovely and colourful...I haven't seen them called Montbretia before, but I know the smaller orange one, which was the usual variety found in many gardens, were called this..

£2.99 per corm?

One of my customers has a border a 15 feet long and 3 feet wide full of crocosmia lucifer. At £2.99 a corm it must be worth thousands!

£2.99 a corn? I think Anchorman didn't look at the photo properly. If it was £2.99 a corn, I would not have bought them.

Oh well, I will plant these tomorrow, and hopefully they will look lovely.

Thanks for the repsonses everybody.

They will do well,Alex, very hardy.I have to split mine every year,as they spread .I have just pulled all last years old brown foliage up,which,at this time of year, comes up so easily...you will love the fiery red flowers, very striking..

Will I have to cane them up, or will they stand up by themselves?

22 Feb, 2011

They will need canes Alex, but maybe wait and see!!

Well surely A.man no one would pay £2.99 for one corm, would they???? Lol. hey no shame, you just made us laugh. Even better the offer is for 20 corms for £5 !!!!! If you would like some of mine I will sell for £1.50 per corm. :~))) LOL

"Well surely A.man no one would pay £2.99 for one corm, would they???2

You'd be amazed at what people will spend. I've stood slack jawed at the prices I've seen people pay at auction for some stuff.

22 Feb, 2011

They must have more money than sense,A.man..!

Hey, I nearly bid on e.bay for 3 double snowdrop 'in the green' starting at 99p. not sure wether to or not!!! Post is £2.99 which is crazy.

23 Feb, 2011

It is easy to criticise over payers but it may not be they're daft.

I remember once getting into a bidding war for a single large perennial at auction . It should have sold for about £2 but I bid up to £8 before reluctantly giving up.

It sounds daft but it was something I'd been looking for for years and I knew I could divide it and have at least 100 plants within a year so 8p per plant sounded good to me.

Know what you mean A.man, if you want something that bad, then why not!!!! :~) I still think £3 postage is to steep though.LOL

How do I say thanks?
