Almost certainly tomato blight caused by the very wet weather this summer. Indoor plants seem to have escaped the disease because you can control the watering, but with the constant waterlogging of the soil this summer the roots have been deprived of oxygen. This causes the hair roots to die and the plant keels over.

Don't compost these plants, which can't be saved. You'll have to burn them or dispose of them in the Council bin (this is OK due to the higher temps they get in their compost making)
