Polyanthus - This should come up every year if you leave them to die back is that right???

Mine come back each year and look styunning, and certainly brighten up the garden after a miserable Winter.

Yes.
I find most of them come back, with some losses - I think if they get too hot in summer they die, but with some shade they are short-lived perennials.
