Hello Boop,
I'm so glad you asked this, because we could do with some advice too. I know you can do winter cabbage, parsnips, and er, that's about the extent of my knowledge. Except that I think that colourful chard stuff can grow all year round, maybe not in hard frost.
Cabbages will need protecting from pesky pigeons, eg netting over them.
Just remembered that you can also grow endives (a relation of chicory?) though I've never tried.
Anyone answering - please mention some good varieties for Boop and me.
Thanks.

You might want to look into oriental veg. I've grown them in autumn in an unheated greenhouse - you might be able to do it outside. My fave was komatsuna or mustard spinach which I put in stir-fries or salads while the leaves were still fairly young. I got the impression it was quicker than pak choi and tastier than mizuna.

hi boop
a bit late for most things, could try spring cabbages and garlics can be planted out in oct.
best to prepare ground for next spring, and spend the winter months planning indoors , in the warm!
plenty of good books on veg growing now available, you can have veg all year round with a bit of forward thinking, much better than supermarket stuff and cheaper.
you will need a compost heap if space permits, when we started our veg plot we bought bags of rotted farnyard manure from the local garden centre to get started , now we have 2 compost heaps and are pretty much self sufficient , but it's taken a couple of years . good luck
