Leaf damage ... please explain ...

Eleagnus ebbingei Gilt Edge ... see photo ...

Parts of many leaves have pale brown colour ... is this caused by the recent cold weather, or a disease ?

Thanks in advance for your time in answering my question :o)

I'd assume damage from the harsh weather, TT - see what the new growth's like when it starts.

Hi Tt, my Euonymus sunspot it like that on some leaves, and some on a Camellia I'm sure its the harsh frosts-- sunspots had it before whereas E. emerald gaiety & emerald 'n gold have come through fine

Hi Pam...
Let's hope the shrubs recover from the freeze :o(

I think my Euonymus and Camellia are okay ...
... I'll double-check tomorrow ...

-12 was a bit cold Tt!, most things here have to be bone hardy as we're open to the north & east winds, the things i'm concerned about are the potentillas & spireas, I 've a spirea i've forgotten the name of-- pretty thing with small leaves reminiscent of Salix flamingo in colour-- always looks delicate-- probably too much but we'll just have to wait & see hope yours are all ok my garden is informal so a few losses don't cause the same problems

Hi again Pam...
I was surprised to see this leaf damage because the rest of my garden seems to have coped quite well with the cold winter ... I hope your Spiraeas and Potentillas have survived...

My Euonymus 'SilverQueen' looks similar to yours,Terra, and and more leaves than usual have dropped off.,as well..I'm sure, come springtime, there will be new foliage appearing on yours, and mine, they have had a lot of stress this year..my Emerald and Gold ones are fine, and in an exposed position..they seem to be so resilient.thank goodness..:o)

Hi Bloomer...
we'll have to "compare notes" in the springtime, as to whether our shrubs are sprouting new growth ...

probably Magic Carpet if its small, or Goldheart if its larger, Pamg, your spiraea I mean - the leaves on that would fit that description. I went to a garden today to prune the wisteria - I must say, the 2 Spiraea Goldmound look completely dead at the moment, just have to see if they recover later on. The other thing that's been hit badly is the Callistemon, but I don't think it's dead, just badly frosted.

Good idea Terra, hope they are both ok,I think they will be..not too long to wait,we hope..:o))
