Not a question - just had to share this with likeminded folks (my non-gardening pals gave me rather pitying looks when I told them!!). I hadn't really been in the garden properly for weeks - just surveyed the devastation from the window. However, on Sunday the sun came out for a couple of hours so I thought - it's now or never! I donned the wellies and went for a wander to try and work out where the heck I was going to start the big clear up. However - as I wandered, every now and then I would crouch down and low and behold, there would be new shoots and growth on what I thought were dead shrubs and plants - also lots of snowdrop and other bulbs well through the ground - all celebrating their new life! I actually shed a tear or two of pleasure. Now I can't wait to get out again to tend them.

I know how you feel. It doesn't matter what weather is thrown onto our gardens, they still grow and flourish. I'm off work next week and guess what - I'm planning (weather permitting) to start and tidy up the garden after all the bad weather. I'm hoping to see lots of 'new life' growing there and new shoots on the bushes and trees.

Yep, I had a look at my devastated garden today - and unfortunately, the hydrangea buds are already starting to swell and look green - bad news really, they'll get frosted for sure. It's been so mild everything's started growing too soon, though I must also observe a few significant losses due to the harsh winter, though they weren't unexpected being rather less than fully hardy. Even the Lobelia cardinalis is shooting from the ground already, so its alive at the moment...

I get that buzz also, planted three blackcurrant bushes last year so still quite small plants & there they were yesterday full of fresh new fat buds, brilliant to say the least. I know currants are super tough but this winter has been super cold so it was so nice to see some life in the garden. Made my day it did ;-))

Partner says he likes to watch me 'secretly' as I wander around the garden because I smile at the plants. Well I would! They're all responding to the sunshine and showing me there's something to smile about! :o)

I have a daisy blooming in my lawn and yellow flowers still on the Mahonia. A vicious frost this morning too. A huge gas bill for December. Robin singing. Dizziness clearing..so no excuses for not cleaning up the birds facilities....done. Loads of bulbs coming up. Geraniums and Fuchsias checked over. All my lovely Perlargoniums dead after surviving last winter. Vine weevil in at least one big pot of Heuchera....Yank out and drown the pesky beasts and repot in fresh compost....yet to be done.
