I have got a Pieris 'Little Heath' for a friend. It is supposed to be a compact dwarf form onlyreaching 2ft, but it is 2ft now! in a 3-4litre pot. Is there a similar form - and it has been mis-labelled, or have others find it grows much larger than the books say?? (like most 'dwarf' conifers!)

You may have straight P. japonica 'Variegata', which is similar in leaf, just larger in all parts, and in size. 'Little Heath' is a very mature plant at 2ft tall. Without seeing it, difficult to tell. One clue might be the leaf size, which I would expect with 'Little Heath' to be about 3 - 4cm. max. Worthy
