is it ok to dig up a fusia plant at this time with a view to transfering it to another garden, and what is the best way to transport it?

Frankly, best done in Spring, but if you must do it now, get a good rootball of soil around it, place in a large pot with compost round it to move it. Water well once in the pot, and again on replanting.
