Age, strangled stems, major root disturbance, severe drought, poison, gypsie curse, shock from being moved, severe pruning, fire exposure. I could probably think of one or two more but go through that list and then get back to me.

I take it that it dies in the past five days and not that you have five days to kill it right, because that wouldn't make sense surely you'd just chop it down and have it done in a day.
