Hi Guest. I've never grown sweet potatoes, but having googled it, there are lots of websites with advice. This is one of them -

They all agree that sweet potatoes are tender plants so you won't be able to grow them in this country in the winter. You'll need to start out with organic sweet potato tubers from a supermarket in spring. Follow the advice on the website above or one of the many others.
