I married a vandal!!!
Hubby decided in his wisdom that it would be a good idea to use one of my pots as a stepping stone to climb off a garden wall! It broke.
"Well, it's only dirt" he said.
After calling him a few choice names I rescued the Chionodoxa and Narcissi bulbs and replanted them in another pot.
My question is can I repair the pot and if so how? It's a large glazed pottery type, narrower at the bottom and has split cleanly in two from top to bottom. I'd welcome any comments.

I used Bostik general purpose to stick my terracotta pot together, but it was only missing a large chunk rather than having to hold together two separate halves. Might be worth a try though.

Thanks Bamboo, I'll try that. Hubby has apologised and been forgiven!

If you have any floor tile cement lying around, it's perfect!

I would sweetly ask him to buy you a new one Lol.

Well, that I'd never have thought of. We'll be laying floor tiles soon so I'll get the cement first and try it. Thanks Meanie.

Sticks like hell (floor tiles, terracotta) and resistant to frost too!

Sounds great to keep at the back of a cupboard Meanie.
Tulsalady, I've already done that! Thought it would be good to fix the broken one too, you can't have too many pots.

does it have a lip? if yes also bind with twine [decoratively if you have the knack :o) ]

definately i agree with tulsa lady make him buy you a new one , he broke it he can replace it.
Make it a bigger pot and gently remind him that if he breaks it again he can replace it again.
I'd be a bit worried especially when the cold weather comes along whether the pot would survive especially if the frost got into the cracks

One of my bigger pots was mended years ago with 'duck tape' when it split down the middle after falling off its wheels in a gale......still going strong. Just clamped it together, plant still there, and second pair of hands wound the tape round it. Painted the tape to match at a later date...blue

Thanks to all of you.
Hubby said he will buy a new pot when I've chosen one I like. I'd still like to rescue the broken one so I'll try the tile cement with some duck tape as a precaution for this winter and see what happens.
I really don't think he'll try that trick again!
