i have an acer brilliantissimum i bought this year and all it's leeaves now have black spots on them . . . what could it be?.. . . . thanks, Carl.

Most likely to be Acer Tar Spot, though a photograph would confirm that - or not. If it is, leaf drop can occur early -no control available, but none necessary either, other than making sure you collect up all fallen leaves as they come down and don't let them lay on the ground over winter. The pest which causes this overwinters on the dead leaves, but this problem doesn't usually kill the plant.
