Agree with Spritzhenry. Don't let the seeds 'pop'. It is so pretty but what a nuisance. Burn it or plant it on a patch of scrubland close by. Actually as far away as possible!!!!!

Planting it elsewhere would be classed as 'propagation', Hardyg, which is also illegal! I found all this info on a Government website when I was checking up on Japanese Knotweed, which is one of the 'shockers' too. Can't recall the others, I'll have to find the website again.

I thought Rhododendron ponticum was another, but I see it listed in the RHS Plantfinder, so I guess not ?

I know that the Forestry Commission is very concerned about the Rhodo, as are the National Trust and the National Parks! They are having a go at getting rid of it.

OOOOH dear. I am pretty sure that you have Himalayan Balsam there. It is classed as one of the most invasive weeds by the Government! It usually grows near water and is choking our native plants there. It spreads rapidly as its seed pods explode and send seeds several metres away. GET RID OF IT! You can't by law send via recycling , or take it to the tip. It's best to dig it out and burn it.
