'Over and out' is not strictly correct. Over asks for a response. Out terminates the call. Just as a matter of interest.

Well, when I said “over and out” in the good old days I meant that I have had my say and you can respond but don’t expect another reply from me because I’ll be busy with other things such as keeping the enemy from overrunning my position....etc.
