I have a Stag's Horn Sumach in the front garden, 2.6metres (8ft 6in) from the house. Could this affect the foundations?

The worst thing about these Sumachs is that they sucker everywhere and will send out suckering roots in all directions. Usually the suckers are fairly easy to remove by tugging them out.
Although the foliage is very attractive when it turns red in the autumn, these trees are more trouble than they are worth, and unless you have somewhere to plant it or one of its suckers a good way from the house in a position where you can cut off the suckers easily, I would get rid of it. I wouldn't risk having it quite so close to the house.
