Data protection on Goy
Can someone tell me how this works? I've seen a lot of GOY photos on pinterest - it's how I first came across all you lovely people. Now, I'm happy to share photos of my garden etc. with you, but that doesn't mean I necessarily want o share them with the world. Is there a way round this?

So far as I know, there isn't any - anything posted publicly (not private messages or your personal details) can be used and reused and uploaded by whoever... Its a public site, that's why, when people put their email addresses in their questions, we tell 'em take it out....

OK, thanks. I'm sorry to hear this though 'cos it will severely limit the pics I want to add.

You can always add a copyright claim to your images. On all of mine there are the initials EGM and the date.

Anything posted on the great www web is potentially in the oublic domain and can be shared/used either directly or indirectly. If you don't want it to go viral don't share it!

Thanks for asking this question as it has clarified this for me. I didn't know that anyone could use our photos from this site.

Read this. It makes it clear that you may not freely use other peoples images without permission from the owner, except in certain circumstances.

How do you put your initials on Owdboggy?

I use Photoshop Elements which allows an overlay on the original image when changing the size for Internet posting, but there are plenty of programs out there which will embed copyright material on to an image.
Google comes up with a list of them. Some of the programs will make it even harder for someone to copy than a simple addition of ones name.

Ta. Not sure I'm up to that. I'm having enough difficulty just uploading photos to the site! Good idea though. It's not copyright I'm concerned about so much as privacy.

How do I say thanks?
