Does anyone know what this is please? It arrived in two different customer's gardens (presumably by bird droppings) grows quickly and has white flowers followed rapidly by black berries. It grows to 6 feet or so tall. I suspect it's deciduous but I'm not sure as I haven't seen it in winter yet.The flower stems are about 3 inches tall

It looks like Pokeweed to me. Phytolacca americana .

It is indeed. My mum has two different types in her garden. Handsome and striking perennials!

Rather poisonous though, so do not eat the berries.

I've got this! I think it's a great plant. :-) I was told that it might seed around - but the seeds look so good, I'm leaving them for the moment at least.
