Depends which species you mean, there are a few plants known as "tea tree". Do you have a photo please?

Either a photo or its botanical name - as Landgirl says, there are several plants known commonly as tea tree...

My idea of a Tea tree which has large flowers at this time of the year would be Camellia sinensis. As Landgirl says, you would need to send a photo to find out the best way to deal with you problem.
