Hi, to be honest, I've never heard of 'winter sweet peas, you can sow the seeds of sweet peas in autumn, and overwinter them in a cold frame or cold greenhouse, this just gives them a head start on the spring sown ones, Derek.

There is a range of sweet peas known as Winter Sunshine - these are somewhat different from ordinary sweet peas. I know nothing about them other than what I've just read, so I'm posting the link to that below, but the most important thing seems to be no pinching out or cutting back

Hi, just had a look at the link Bamboo, it seems to me like it's an early spring flowering type, rather than winter, and even then it's under glass, might as well just go with an autumn sowing, and get them outside, that is if you live in the U K, Derek.

I don't grow them at all,but I kind of agree with you, though if I did grow them, I'd probably give them a whirl just to see what they're like and how they did - no other sweet peas would be in flower that early unless in a heated greenhouse.

Thanks everyone. We bought them at an Autumn Fair near where we live on the south coast in the UK. They are supposedly fragrant and winter flowering, although the lady on the stall might have a different idea of 'winter' from us!! I have an unheated polytunnel, so will put them in there this week and see what happens and keep you posted.
