bought some garlic bulbs few weeks back from garden centre planted the cloves 4 weeks ago and they are already 4 inches above ground is that normal and will they be ok as it's my first time for growing garlic

It's all down to the odd weather we are having this autumn, you may need to cover them with fleece if it gets frostily cold at any time but remove as soon as the frost is gone.
