Help:- I have an invasion of Voles!!!!!
In about July this year we noticed tunnels appearing in our front lawn and then tunnels in every part of beds. I put out a live trap and caught 5 voles but the damage hasn't lessened. I then called out a pest control company and they said voles were the one thing they couldn't do anything about. I tried rags soakd in Jeyes fluid put down the tunnels and it made no difference. I went around nearly every day collapsing as many tunnels as I could, still made no difference. I hated it but even bought some poison bate blocks and put them in the tunnels. Still no difference. Poor hubby is even peeing (sorry) on the tunnels and so far that has stopped them continuing with those tunnels but just starting fresh ones. I now have about 20 odd tunnels going into my lawn and every plant has tunnels going under and around them that I am worried about them dying off. Has anyone got any ideas that we haven't tried? I already have a cat but she is getting on in years that she just isn't interested in hunting anymore. Below are just 3 of the tunnels, 1st one just from last night.

Are mole remedies available made from castor bean extract? Those have proven effective against voles in parts of the U.S.

Thanks Tugbrethil, I've had a quick look on net and can't find any for sale over here in UK but I will have another look. Woke up this morning to another fresh tunnel going along the side of my path. :-(.

Umblegrumble critters!! Too much like the pocket gophers we have here--think "Caddyshack"! :/

hi jenlewis if you take a sharp stick and find the run and make a hole in it and pour a egg cup of petrol down you will that this should deter them good luck.

Hmm...might make a dead spot in your garden for a year or so, though.

Thank you Kennyboy, the only trouble is that under my front lawn is a very large LPG gas tank also and makes me a bit worried putting petrol near that.
