i have a pepper tree in my garden and i have been told that i need to have the male near for it to produce peppercorns. Is this true and if so how do i go about planting another one as i have been told that i can just add a root of a male tree in the ground where maine is planted and that will do the trick.

Need to know the genus. I suspect its not Piper (Peppercorn) as these are climbers and have both male and female flowers on the same plant. Planting a root nearby sounds like an old wives tale. If they were plants that have separate male and female flowers anyway, they would use the normal means of flower pollination to produce seed (in the female plant).
