Phoenix Canariensis - what type of soil or compost does it need, can I leave it out side in winter wrapped in cosy wrap ?please ,thanks you

I suspect that where you live, you will need to move the Phoenix to a frost free greenhouse, or under shelter up against a wall at the very least, and wrapped against the cold. If its large already, use John Innes No. 3, if medium or small, John Innes No. 2
