You would be best to grow them on into larger plants before letting them loose! Slugs and snails can destroy small Delphinium plants so a larger, tougher plant would fare better. Pot them on into increasingly larger pots until October. They will then die back for winter. Put a few slug pellets on the surface of the compost in spring to protect the new growth. Plant them out in May in a sunny spot.
