Hi Sunshines...we paint ours with wood treatment...Sadolin, Ronseal or whatever one you like. I'm just wondering....are you having a problem with bird poo? Only we do, and I have wondered about pinning a sheet of bamboo screening over the top of mine in the past. We have managed to get rid of a lot of the problem now, but they do like to perch on top of it. So if you wanted to, you could try that?

It depends what the arbour is made of. If it's wooden, then any of the outdoor timber oils, stains or paints available from any DIY store.

If it's constructed in pressure-treated timber, then you don't need to treat it at all.
