Hi Guest it is too late to be planting potatoes in July you plant them March, April time. Now is the time to harvest your early potatoes and main crop in about a month. Potatoes, like lots of vegetables, grow best when the light is increasing - not when it is decreasing. You can, I understand, grow new potatoes for Christmas but these would not be planted until late September.
