Wisteria losing leaves

My established Wisteria is suddenly losing leaves after 5 years .Have recently sprayed `Bind Weeds`and Stinging Nettles with `Deep Root` weed killer but protected Wisteria foliage with polythene.Can weed killer penetrate to roots of Wisteria and kill.
