Can someone identify this berry bearing plant?

I was wondered if anyone could identify this berry bearing plant. I thought it looked a bit like a purple rosehip!

Looks like a rose.Rosa Spinosissima possibly?What were the flowers like.

Thats Rosa Rugosa for certain The Purple hips are full of seeds which you can cultivate and grow new plants from them............

Hmmm - my rosa rugosas all have red-orange hips (like small tomatoes)

The rose with purplish hips is Rosa glauca, but even then they are not as blue as these.

Rosa Glauca has comletely different leaves.I still think it is a R,pimpernilla sort.Rugosa has red or orange berries Andrewr is right there.
