my bay tree is going brown and is being eaten by something,could it be caterpillars, what else attacks a Bay tree? And without chemicals what is the best way to clear them out.

take a look or have a listen to this week's Gardener's Question Time on BBC Radio 4? there was a good answer to this on that programme - it would appear to be a poor season for bay trees, they suffered in the colder and longer winter we had, not their preferred environment at all.
