What a geat idea, and I`ll kick off with one I got from a fellow GOY member:

Beetroot Chutney recipe

2 lb Raw Beetroot, grated
1 lb Onions, chopped small
1 1/2 lbs Cooking Apples, peeled cored & chopped
1 lb Seedless Raisins
3/4 Pint of Malt Vinegar
1 lb Granulated Sugar
2 tbs Ground Ginger

Place all the ingredients in a large pan and bring to the boil. Reduce the
heat and simmer for about 1 - 2 hours or until thick and pulpy.
When cool spoon into warm prepared jars, cover and seal.

The recipe actually says 2 lbs of sugar but I found this was too sweet.
The recipe also says 1L of Vinegar but I found this was too much and took far
too long to reduce to become thick & pulpy.
ALSO - I am heavy with the Ground Ginger !

Enjoy !

Nice recipe Andrea.

Thankyou for starting off.

Here is one of my soup recipes.

PARSNIP SOUP
5-6 large Parsnips

3 large carrots

large leek

1 onion

fresh peas out of pod

Chop all fresh veg not too small.

Cook leek and onion till golden then add rest of veggies.

Some dill and fresh pepper I did not add salt as this can be added at table

Add 2-3pints of veg stock and boil soft then simmer just before ready to serve blitz then pour into soup bowl serve with crusty bread and enjoy.

I like the idea. If the recipes use things that we can grow in our gardens it's still tied in with gardening. Maybe somewhere in the Encyclopedia section, so that we could find the recipes easily. Was Ajay contacted about th eidea?

Seems a great idea to me - when everything in the veggy patch comes ready at once it would be useful to have recipies for soups and things to use up large quantities of stuff. I currently have 100 onions drying in the greenhouse. Any ideas?!

Hmmmmmm! As a veggy growing dad who loves cooking with produce from the garden, and encouraging the kids to do same, I think this idea is great. Am going to look into this!
