Kniphofia

Asked on 28 Jul, 2008

After many years of perseverance I finally got my Kniphofia ( Red Hot Pokers) to flower. My joy was shortlived, as the birds picked the flowers clean and I was left with a few stalks! Is this common, and is there anything I can do to prevent the little perishers from doing it again?

Sparrows love Kniphofia. Try growing different variaties, they seem to go more for the common yellow and red one.
