I am currently growing trailing cherry tomatoes in a hanging basket. They are flourishing very well but I need to know if I have to pinch out any part of the growth similar to standard tomatoes grown from the ground upwards

It might depend on the type you are growing. I have Gartenperle which is for baskets and doesn't require pinching. Since you are going to provide more food and water to a basket-grown plant, length and strenghth of the vines are more important since you want the plant to stay full and bushy (just for looks).
