Pretty in the sun

Asked on 23 Jul, 2008

I'm looking for suggestions of plants to put either side of my front door in pots - I've had suggested bays but I was hoping for something prettier but it needs to be able to withstand full sun first thing in the morning. All suggestions gratefully recieved.

Did you have flowering shrubs in mind? How about Hydrangeas - there are such lovely ones around, or a pair of matching standard roses?

I've had great luck with geraniums, vincas, gerbera daisies, petunias and white begonias. Portulacas also love the sun and will stand dry conditions. I had some last summer and they bloomed incessantly.

What about some nice large Fuchsia and they bloom a long time.
