Not usually necessary because the usual procedure is to feed the soil underneath the turf about a week before laying with something like Growmore. If you haven't done this, there's not much point in applying anything just yet - keep it well watered and if you feel its necessary, feed in 4 to 6 weeks time, but not past August. You can buy a an autumn/winter lawn food if you want to for use from September onwards.
