i would like to know what it is as well one appeared in my garden last yr and grew to about 4 ft and i didnt plant it its a bit like hollyhoks

Andy and Jill have a pic of that in their pics Aster. I have seen those at open gardens and they seem always to have several spikes on their heads?

Yes there are a few of them on this site,not sure if the leaves look right either.I'm sure someone put a photo or question on about this plant recently,I can't remember who.I'm sure someone will recognise it.

I was thinking Veratrum but leaves aren't right for that; probably verbascum.

Greek Mullein I understand it dies after 2 years when flowers but seeds like mad and regrows. Mullein moth a problem in June July and ideas how to protect it from that? (Got that from web search after your comments) ta M.
