Yes, its a good way to start them off and then plant out when it is warm enough.

Or if the pots are big enough you can put in sticks in a teepee shape and grow the beans up them.

We are too far north for runner beans but have grown the similar climbing beans in pots. A three litre long pot, four seeds and one long cane leaning against a fence.

I grow runner beans in a builders bucket with holes in the bottom. I put 6 plants in the pot and also add a couple of sweet peas too.
